This series contains records relating to the repayment of government loans and debts and to the disbursement of pensions, annuities and other payments by the Exchequer of Receipt, dating from the 17th to 19th centuries.

The records include the assignment books of the London goldsmiths who had lent money to the government in 1677, with details of their own creditors; pells office assignment books with details of the assignments made by thirteen bankers to their creditors, after the Exchequer was closed down in 1672 with debts outstanding, which books also contain brief entries of wills, copies of probates and letters of administration; auditors' assignment books; warrants of attorney; and statistical accounts of the number of bills paid out, moneys outstanding, and calculations of interest on the loans.
