This series contains files relating to international trade policy and trade promotion. The files concern: foreign and commonwealth trade negotiations and agreements, including treaties; the membership of GATT and trade between GATT members; the European Economic Community; the European Free Trade Area; the United Nations Trade and Development Board; the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); the economic policy measures of other countries which affect the UK; commercial agreements on quota arrangements and import-export facilities; economic boycotts and sanctions; import controls; model draft treaties; tariffs; market sharing agreement under US anti-trust legislation; extra-territoriality aspects of USA anti-trust investigation into international uranium cartel; international commodity policy; and specific commodities including cereals, coal and coke, cocoa, coffee, copper, cotton, fruit and vegetables, lead, meats, oil, oils and fats, pulp and paper, rubber, sugar, tea, tin, wool and zinc.

In 1948 a policy, general and record file series was created to run in parallel with the annual series of CRT (shortly to become CRE) files which continued.
