Administrative / biographical background: |
File prefixes in this series were first used in 1987/88 and allocated to the Department dealing with aid to countries in South Asia, at that time Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan. By the end of 1995 the Department was only dealing with aid to India and at the beginning of 1996 responsibility for this was delegated to the British Development Cooperation Office Delhi, (later DFID India). All the files concerning India using the ASL and ASN prefix were transferred to Delhi at that time. Therefore this series will also contain files sent to the UK for second review from DFID India. The creating departments within the Africa Division for these files are defined as follows: Overseas Development Administration (ODA): Department for International Development (DFID): |
