Includes transcripts of proceedings and confidential reports; policy files; specimens of Investigating Committee files and of general files not preserved; the Commission's four reports; and various indexes and registers of claims and cases. Also included are:
- The names of all the claimants who appeared before the full Commission
- A list of files dealing with procedural points, e.g. Investigating Committee Procedure
- Copies of each of the four reports and a compendium of the Commission's work
- Specimens of files which have been destroyed
The Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors set up after the Second World War, was appointed by Royal Warrant dated the 15th May, 1946 under the Chairmanship of Lord Justice Cohen. A Royal Warrant bringing to an end the functions of this Commission was issued on the 17th March, 1955. From the 10th February, 1947 to 14th December, 1955 the Commission sat in public for a total of 397 days and heard 440 claims under its terms of reference. The Commission issued four reports and a compendium.
