League of Nations Assembly and Council Documents
This series consists of three collections. The first collection contains records of the London Office of the League, in particular 'C' and 'A' Series of papers circulated to members of the League Council and Assembly. This collection was placed in the Public Record Office for safe-keeping in 1940 and in March 1953 it was agreed with the United Nations Organisation that they should be retained on permanent deposit.
The second collection consists of the Official Journals of the League, related indexes and supplementary publications.
The third collection consists of papers of D H Boggis-Rolfe, a member of the League of Nations delegation enquiring into the financial situation in Bulgaria, 1933.
The 'C' and 'A' papers, together with the journals, provide a comprehensive account of the business of the league, from its inception in 1920, until 1946 when its residual functions were handed over to the United Nations.
Means of reference is by printed and typescript indexes forming part of the series. Certain deficiencies in the series of printed subject and numerical lists, which provide a key to the papers, have been remedied by the insertion of typescript lists referring to the relevant periods.
