The Committee was directed to enquire into difficulties and congestion arising at ports and docks, regulate the flow of traffic and co-ordinate the requirements of all interests concerned, while at the same time avoiding as far as possible interference with the normal flow of trade. It was dissolved in February 1921 when the Ministry of Transport assumed responsibility for any matters outstanding.
