Title: Welsh Office and predecessor: Roads Division: Registered Files (RD Series)
Description:

The files in this series were raised by the Roads Division of the Welsh Office after 1965. Many earlier papers from a number of series used both in the Ministry of Transport's main office in London or its regional office in Cardiff were put on the files which continued to be used for a number of years.

Most of the files deal with various aspects of particular road and bridge improvement schemes carried out by the division. They cover many aspects of Welsh roads including the determination of departmental policy, awarding contracts, the effects of land subsidence, the provision of relief and ring roads. Many refer to specific major road building projects. A number of files are concerned with the building and maintenance of bridges. There are also a few general policy files, mainly relating to road planning.
