Description:

Processes held by the registrar of ecclesiastical and Admiralty causes of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, being authenticated summaries of the proceedings in the lower court from whose sentence the appeal was made.

The first document in the process is generally the monition of the Judicial Committee to the lower court to produce the process. There then follow transcripts of such documents as acts of court, allegations of plaintiffs, depositions of witnesses, exhibits, and orders and sentences of the court. Exhibits may include disputed wills, salvage bills, lists of freight, and deeds of title of ecclesiastical property. Some processes are accompanied by plans and maps. The process was authenticated as an accurate record by the registrar or equivalent officer of the lower court from which the appeal came.
