Description:

Alexander ORLOV: Russian. In January 1940 General Walter KRIVITSKY identified one NIKOLSKIY, with aliases including ORLOV, as predecessor to Theo MALY as OPGU Illegal Resident in the UK. ORLOV had later been sent to Spain during the Civil War to organise OGPU activities there. In 1953 ORLOV published a book and magazine articles identifying himself as a former Russian Intelligence Service officer who had fled to the USA in 1938 from Spain. ORLOV admitted using the alias NIKOLSKIY among others but always denied having ever been in England
