Description:

Rolls signed by barristers on being admitted to practice in the Court of King's Bench, or King's Bench Division.

They replaced the oath rolls following the Promissory Oaths Act 1868 (31 & 32 Vict, c 72), which no longer required barristers to take an oath of allegiance. Each roll covers one term, and in addition to the signature, names the individual barrister's inn of court. The rolls include the signatures of barristers who became prominent in wider public life.
