Papers transferred from the chambers of Thomas Ansdell Romer, who served successively as a chief clerk and a chancery master in the Chancery Division of the High Court from 1886 until his death in 1917. The series does include material generated by his predecessor and inherited by him. The predecessor of Master Thomas Ansdell Romer (1886 onwards) in his role as Master/Chief Clerk was Master Robert William Peake (1852-1885). The papers of Master Robert William Peake found here probably only include those for causes with initial letters O-Z; for causes with initial letters L-N see J 26, J 27 and J 28.
Among the papers will be found bills of costs submitted to the master for review; exhibits, such as accounts, accompanying affidavits, etc; notes concerning changes of solicitors, agreements, etc; particulars of claims; pedigrees in support of claims to the estates of deceased persons and receivers' accounts in liquidation and similar proceedings.
