Subseries within WO 69ROYAL ARTILLERY: REGISTERS OF MARRIAGES AND BAPTISMS
The registers found here were compiled by the Adjutant of each unit to record the marital and family status of the Other Ranks in his unit. They are not the original record of the marriages and baptisms. Where a soldier transferred between units, his marriage and the baptisms of his children may well have been recorded again by the Adjutant of his new unit. The registers are in one of three forms:
Those containing separate sections for Marriages and Births/Baptisms. In the births/baptisms section the entries related to the children of each individual soldier were often grouped together.
Those containing individual pages recording a soldier's marriage together with details of his children's births/baptisms.
A Married Roll in which is recorded the admission of a soldier onto the Married Establishment. These lists appear to have been compiled at regular (monthly or quarterly) intervals.
