The surviving records of the Private Office comprising confidential minutes, memoranda and correspondence addressed to, or emanating from, the President and Vice-President, of the Council of the Committee on Education, later the Board of Education, draft parliamentary bills, departmental committee reports, rare copies of printed papers, some papers of Sir William Anson relating to his term of office as Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education, 1902 to 1905, and a number of ancillary papers including House of Commons Returns.
Private Office papers are not registered but are kept in folders indexed under broad subject headings.
The series also includes material which would otherwise be found elsewhere in ED amongst the Records of the Committee of the Privy Council on Education.
