  • DL 471572-1799Duchy of Lancaster: Counterparts of Leases of the Hospital of Savoy

The records are the counterparts of indentures of lease of the lands of the Hospital of Savoy. They relate to the hospital's lands in the Savoy itself and in Northamptonshire, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Lancashire and Westmorland. They are in the name of the master and chaplains of the hospital of Savoy and were kept by them as evidence of transaction. The counterparts are signed and sealed by the lessee and the lessee's copy of the leease was sealed with the common seal of the hospital of Savoy.

A few assignments and surrenders of leases and cancelled grants of the offices of auditor and porter can also be found in the series.
