Enrolments of letters patent, letters close and charters issued under the great seal, and other documents relating to Welsh affairs, Welsh rulers and to the conquest of Wales by Edward I.
The series begins with the proceedings relating to the treaty of Aberconway of 1277 between Edward I and Llywelyn, prince of Wales, and includes material on the struggle with Llewelyn ap Gruffudd, the report of the commissions sitting locally as to the laws and customs of Wales, the settlement of the lands of Gruffudd ap Gwenwynwyn, the rebellion of Rhys ap Maredudd, the charters of Strata Florida Abbey, and the dissension between the earls of Gloucester and Hereford.
Some of the rolls also contain a few patents and charters drawn up in Wales but relating to other places.
