    The Welsh Contaminated Land Survey dataset for the 1987/88 update contains the following information on contaminated sites:-

    • Unique reference code for the site;
    • National grid references locating the site;
    • Former site use responsible for the contamination;
    • Name and location of the site;
    • Description of the site and its immediate vicinity;
    • Known or potential contaminants to be found on the site;
    • Period when the use of the site caused the contamination;
    • Area of the potentially contaminated zone and the scale of contamination;
    • Estimates of the toxicity of the contaminants and the hazard posed to the local population;
    • The proximity of the site to housing and its condition at the time of the survey;
    • Estimate of the probability that the site is significantly contaminated
    • The relative priority of the site to receive remedial treatment;
    • Notes - any further information of relevance to planners or developers;
    • The principal sources of the information on the site and the last date on which information on the site was recorded or altered.

    According to the 1988 survey report 749 sites were identified and listed in the database. An appendix to the report lists each site by code number, indicating the former site use causing the contamination and the name of the site.
