Description:

These records consist mainly of two types of register: those of soldiers taking the statutory oath of allegiance under the Act of 1609 before going to serve in the Low Countries between 1613 and 1633; and those of licences to persons going to Europe, chiefly to Holland but also Scotland and Ireland, in the period 1573-1677.

There are also several registers of passengers to New England, Barbados and other colonies between 1634 and 1639, with one of 1677. There is also a blank licence of the reign of Elizabeth I. The entries in the registers generally include date, name and destination.
