Reginald Victor Jones CB, CBE, FRS, born 29 Sept 1911, left Oxford after gaining MA DPhil and joined the Air Ministry in 1936 as a Scientific Officer. Between 1938-1939 he was seconded to the Admiralty but returned to the Air Ministry as a member of the Air Staff. he became Assistant director of Intelligence (Air) in 1941 and in 1946 he became Director. Between 1952-1953 he was Director of Scientific Intelligence in the Ministry of Defence. He died on 17 December 1997. Throughout his career he was a member and chairman of various committees and advisory panels on scientific subjects, defence and safety. |
