Description:

Identification as penny is probable; possibly half-groat. Coin face: comprehensively defaced; no trace of bevelled edge An incised line runs around top of shaft, about 0.94 mm. below the existing face. Shaft rectangular in section (36-38 mm.) where spikejoins shaft, chamfered to octagonal, passing to round section below coin face; spike rectangular in section tapering to a blunt, squared-off tip. Height of shaft 78 mm. Height of spike 49.7 mm. Diameter. as seen 27 mm.
