Description:

Legend: - - - - - - EX x - - - - - - - - - Forms of letters partly visible, but impossible to read with any confidence. Coin face: faint suggestion of letters, nothing legible; very faint five-pointed star (dexter) and trefoil (sinister) either side ofcrown; crown, possibly unusual shape, suggestion of nose, possibly eyebrows and eyes; no bevel on die, although hardened coin face may give impression of bevel. Shaft: square in section where spike joins shaft, chamfered to create octagonal, passing to round section c 13 mm. below coin face; spike rectangular in section; tip blunt, chisel-shaped. Shank marked with four crowns, one on each side; the fourth has to be taken on trust, as it is covered by pasted-on label. Height of shaft 96 mm. Height of spike 54 mm. Diameter. of coin face (no bevel) 20.5 mm.
