War Office: British Military Missions in Liaison with Allied Forces; Military Headquarters Papers, Second World War
The papers in this series deal with the work of British Military Mission commanders appointed to liaise with commanders of Allied Forces.
The records cover, in particular, operations of the Free French Forces, the Polish Army and the Partisans Forces in the Balkans. Also included are papers concerning the Spears Mission to Syria and Lebanon, the mission to Yugoslavia, and Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) Missions dealing with reconstruction in Western Europe. For some missions the records include interim, final and quarterly historical reports.
