War Office: West African Command: War Diaries, Second World War
These diaries contain the daily record of events, reports on operations, intelligence summaries, etc, of commanders of headquarters formations and units of the British Army and West African Forces serving in West African Command.
No papers of the Military Headquarters have been traced but a few files of Headquarters Nigeria Area have been included with this series as piece numbers 1282 to 1288.
Public access to this series was previously restricted in that readers were required to sign an undertaking note not to disclose information of a personal nature.
The series is arranged by years in the order Headquarters Command, areas and brigades, followed by units of the arms and services, not in any order of precedence.
