Karl Friedrich GROEHL, aliases FRIEDBERG, ERDE, Charles GROEHL, Stanislas RETZLAW: German. GROEHL was a founder member of the German Communist Party and until 1933 was head of MUEZENBERG's propagandist publishing organisation. By 1936 he was working for the Comintern and acted as TROTSKY's representative in Central Europe. He later broke with TROTSKY, went to France and then in 1940 to the UK, where he worked for SOE
